HOW HUGO BOSS MADE A CASE FOR TASSELS, JOINING AW20’S FRINGE PHENOMENON

BOSS presented not only an interesting collection, shedding light on the power of reincarnation. The crux for this season was tailoring, recontextualising brand classics, in soothing nuances of rust, lavender, volcanic orange, caramel and navy.

Milan Fashion Week AW20 has shown that brands need to understand how to reinvent themselves and that timeless craftsmanship is still a powerful apparatus for exploration in the realm of fashion. Boss took a step forward this season and presented new and innovative renderings on the potential for tailoring in 2020, with exciting colour-blocked ensembles and full monochrome looks. Razor-sharp tailoring in lilac? Yes, please.

What Boss presented for AW20 was a subtle consolidation of current fashion trends matched with their historic tailoring. Trend signifiers for AW20 included XL fringes, bonded leather, square-toe boots and mega-wide lapel coats, creating a shift in dynamics this season. The highlight of the collection? The topographic prints that drenched several pieces of the outerwear and tailoring this season, a print that created dimension, drama and texture in the 70-look collection.
