AW21: ACNE STUDIOS TACKLES DIY AND LIFE AT HOME THROUGH THEIR LATEST COLLECTION

For AW21, Jonny Johansson tackled the idea of waking up from a dream for his latest collection for the Scandinavian fashion giant. Dreamy milkshake colours of baby blue, candy floss pink and beige graced several looks as they appeared on the live-stream. Ceramic animals by artist Apollinaria Broche were carried like bags and also appeared on the jewellery this season. Linen, silk, fuzzy knits and distressed close to body pieces in the previously mentioned colours felt dream-like and soft.

As the show went on, the looks shifted from dainty florals to harsh jab-like contrasts of white and black gowns and loose knitted tops with matching skirts that exposed the models’ raw skin. This season, Johansson shed light on reality and how clothes in our dreams are not necessarily the ones we get to wear in real life. The highlight of the season was most definitely the cow shoes and the DIY nature of the ceramic animals partnered with familiar fabrics more commonly seen in shabby chic homeware.
