For AW21, Art School taps into the zeitgeist with a dark and dystopian collection in a restricted palette of black, red and white. The models appeared in what can only be described as gothic extravaganza with wolverine slashed tailoring and dresses in thick boucle and silk. Gender was also a topic of discussion where the men this season were adorned in corsets and skirts, whilst fur piping on the gowns, outerwear and tops sparked memories from the ‘90s.
With the nightlife industry struggling and partygoers twiddling their thumbs waiting for the next opportunity to go to a rave, Art School presents a collection fit for any Berghain visit in the future. The collection saw pristine outwear pieces partnered with restrictive leather straps and chains, further underlining the raver theme of the collection. Stripped from archetypical garments of the covid-19 era like hoodies and t-shirts, Art School champions tailoring, everyday gowns and luxurious fabrics in a hyper-minimal colour palette. Through its witchy looks and peek-a-boo gowns, Art School prepares for the world outside and when we can party again.
